The King of Fighters XV Crossplay Open Beta Weekend Thread (2025)

The 1-2 combination of rollback netcode AND crossplay is hitting KOF XV! SNK is holding an open beta this weekend which grants you access to the entire roster of characters, including all of the DLC!

This thread is a little late, but the beta is going on right now on all platforms:

You will need to download a separate client for this open beta. The open beta client should be accessible through the game's store pages on the platform you're using.

Few things to note:

That's about it, I believe. Early testimonials from players have stated that they have been able to easily find matches against players of all platforms! If you've got the time for some crossplay testing or if you fancy yourself a test drive of the entire roster, come get jumped in with the rest us of.

Ohhhh… I just booted up the game and don't have access to the DLC, I have to download the beta version seperately?

That's correct. It tripped me up, too. As was stated in the OP, the open beta client should be accessible through the store page of KOF XV itself.

This might be a dumb question, sorry, but why is there a beta? Isn't the game already out a while? Is this a beta for some expansion or new version of the game?

This is a beta for the addition of crossplay between all platforms. It's sort of a free weekend for the game as well, just not the *full* game. Everything except the game's story mode is available, including all the DLC.

Okay, thanks. :) I'm downloading it right now.
I was always mildly interested in the game, but then lost it out of my sight and mind. If this will give me a good idea of what the full game is like, maybe it'll win me over.

So far so good. There's no problems with the crossplay, unlike Strive.

Been finding matches pretty consistently on PC. Maybe a 70/30 mix on PC players/other platforms. There's been a couple of occasions where it took 5+ minutes to find a match, but generally, matches were found pretty quick.

Looks promising so far! Only thing the game needs* is a wifi indicator...which I'm not sure if they do or not.

The PS5 version won't let me use my TE2 even though it worked during the betas before release & the retail release.

Yeah it's not letting me use my stick when I have no issue with the full game.

Yeah, I got got by the arcade stick. Playing isn't really fun under these circumstances so I'm gonna just wait for the full release.

This beta will apparently be ending soon, in the next 25 minutes as of this post. I wouldn't mind if they extended it by another day or two.

The PS4 download worked fine but man the PS4 version has looong loading times.

Despite getting my ass kicked I enjoyed what little I played. Most of the the people I fought were on PC and it was super smooth. I fought one PlayStation player with a level 1 connection that was somehow really smooth too.

Same for me. 70% was against other PC, and my only bad connection match with big rollbacks was against another PC player so crossplay wasn't the issue

Also, it didn't take long to get matches at Rank 11-15 with 3+ bar minimum in Europe.

I maybe should've done that in hindsight, but out of principle I'm gonna say that SNK just needs to get their shit together if they want my time. I got things to do, lol.
